WHAT IS A DCAA APPROVED ACCOUNTING SYSTEM?

If a federal contractor wishes to be eligible to be awarded a wider variety of contract types, they must have an "approved" accounting system. The most common way for a small business to secure approval of their system is through a DCAA systems review. If your system is set up and maintained properly, you do not need to fear this audit. We are available to help you every step of the way through this process, which includes gathering documentation and demonstrating the system in person to the auditors.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN A DCAA AUDIT?

Our DCAA audits include:

  • Segmentation of direct and indirect costs

  • Documentation of direct costs by contract

  • Documentation of method for allocation of indirect costs

  • Accumulation of costs on general ledger

  • Develop and refinement of a timekeeping system

  • Develop and refinement of a labor distribution system

  • Implementation of a routine system for posting of books to a contract account

  • Exclusion of non-allowable costs in terms of FAR31, Contract Cost Principles and Procedures, or other contract provisions

  • Delineation of costs by contract line item and unit
